The Story behind PizzaMaster®
The World’s Largest Range of Deck Ovens in the World
Since 1991, PizzaMaster has been setting new standards in electric deck oven performance, capacity, and innovation. What began in a Swedish garage with a single idea has grown into the world’s largest range of electric deck ovens, trusted in over 170 countries by chefs, pizzerias, bakeries, schools, and restaurants. This highlights our history, values, and ongoing commitment to quality, innovation, and customer success.

Why was the PizzaMaster oven invented?
In 1991, our founder, Christer Andersson, saw a major gap in the market: no electric deck ovens were designed specifically for the unique demands of pizza-making. He knew operators needed something better, an oven engineered for high performance, superior heat retention, and consistent results. With sketches in hand, he began developing the foundation for what would become the world’s largest range of electric deck ovens.
How did PizzaMaster take its first steps into the market?
Christer approached local restaurants with an offer to invest, promising to build an oven that would revolutionize their pizza-making. Several believed in his vision, even without a prototype. With just enough funding to purchase materials, the first PizzaMaster ovens were built in his garage. From the start, every detail was critical, a 360° approach that remains part of our process today.
Who were the first to trust PizzaMaster ovens?
At first, ovens were sold directly to restaurants in southern Sweden, one by one. As demand grew, we shifted to dealer-based sales, strengthening industry relationships and allowing more time to refine and improve the ovens. By 2007, international distributors took notice, and PizzaMaster ovens began reaching kitchens around the globe. Today, they are installed in over 170 countries.
Are there PizzaMaster ovens in Italian restaurants?
Yes. Once Italian chefs tested PizzaMaster ovens, they immediately noticed the difference, exceptional heat retention, high output, and unmatched consistency. For these chefs, efficiency was just as crucial as quality, and PizzaMaster exceeded their expectations.
How and when did PizzaMaster enter the U.S. market?
In 2006, one of the world’s top chefs from the U.S. traveled to Sweden after hearing about our hightemperature ovens. After testing his dough in a PizzaMaster, he was convinced. That moment marked our entry into the U.S. market and solidified our reputation as the leader in high-temperature pizza ovens.
Why did PizzaMaster ovens become so popular in the marine industry?
PizzaMaster ovens gained popularity in the marine sector by addressing the unique challenges of ships and yachts. We developed models with specialized features, no wheels for stability, stainless steel construction for water resistance, and tailored electronics for marine connections. These specifications, combined with proven durability, made PizzaMaster the trusted choice for marine operators worldwide.
Why offer such a large variety of models?
No two kitchens or pizza styles are alike. With over 95 sizes, more than 1 800 models, and more than one million possible combinations, PizzaMaster ensures the right solution for every customer. Our commitment to variety and customization reflects our core belief: making every customer happy.
What makes PizzaMaster ovens the gold standard in electric deck ovens today?
Why is continual innovation so important for PizzaMaster?
Competing globally required more than just the best product. We had to adapt to diverse markets, regulations, and customer needs. Over the years, we have refined products and services through local venting adjustments, updated manuals, improved training, and enhanced support systems. This continual innovation ensures PizzaMaster remains the top choice worldwide.
How did PizzaMaster’s high-temperature capability come to life?
A Swedish customer needed an oven capable of reaching 500°C (932°F) for flatbread. We accepted the challenge and delivered within three months. That breakthrough shaped every oven we’ve built since. Today, PizzaMaster’s high-temperature capability is a defining feature, relied upon by renowned chefs and establishments worldwide.
What drives PizzaMaster innovation around the world?
Real-world feedback and customer needs. Innovations in heating systems, materials, user interfaces, energy efficiency, and baking precision have all come from listening to operators. At PizzaMaster, innovation is not a one-time achievement, it’s an ongoing partnership with the people who use our ovens every day.
Two key examples:
- Clay-ceramic hearthstones: Developed with an Italian chef, they deliver unmatched heat retention and crust quality. Later, Artisan Hearthstones were introduced for chefs specializing in ultra-high-heat Neapolitan pizzas.
- TurboStart: Created to save operators time and energy by heating ovens to temperature in 30 minutes or less. It’s now a standard feature across all PizzaMaster ovens.
What sets PizzaMaster apart in terms of support and service?
Why were PizzaMaster ovens engineered to last so long?
We believe in “overdesigning” every component. From the start, we built ovens to withstand decades of use. By continuously refining materials and parts based on real-world baking, we ensure performance and durability. A PizzaMaster oven is an investment that pays for itself through efficiency, consistency, and longevity.
What is the future vision for PizzaMaster ovens?
We will relentlessly continue to innovate. The future of PizzaMaster is clear: to continue leading with innovation, performance, and quality for chefs and operators worldwide.
